Partner Sponsored Institutes

The Critical Thinking Consortium encourages Partners to host multi-day critical thinking institutes. The goals are to raise the profile of the sponsoring Partner and generate revenue or, at least, subsidize the cost of professional development for their own staff. TC2′s policy is to charge the lowest possible fee when participants are not paying for an event and to recapture some of its investment in the conception when Partners charge participants for attendance. The following terms apply when Partners sponsor an institute in conjunction with TC2 where participants are charged a registration fee.

TC2 provides

  • trained presenter(s) and group leaders to facilitate the sessions;
  • guidance to the facilitators in preparing the agenda and customizing the institute;
  • permission to use and reproduce TC2 copyrighted materials;
  • help in publicizing the event through print and via public presentations;
  • opportunities to build staff capacity through leadership and facilitation roles
  • advice to the sponsoring partner on planning and staging the event.

Fee Schedule

When participants are charged a registration fee for an institute, sponsoring Partners will:

  • pay the full rate for lead facilitators (currently $1000 for Roland Case and $750 for other facilitators) for each day of the institute and for one additional planning day, and one-half this rate for supporting facilitators (if needed);
  • provide a 10% royalty (for use of TC2‘s name and intellectual property) on the total amount received for registration and, in the case of non-paying participants from the sponsoring partner, an amount equal to 10% of the registration fee that they would have paid if they were not associated with the sponsoring partner;
  • reimburse TC2 any travel, accommodation, photocopying and preparation costs.

The Sponsoring Partner will

  • handle all logistics for the event, including registration and on-site management;
  • assume the main responsibility for publicizing the event;
  • receive any profit from the events (or cover any loss).

Requests to the Sponsoring Partner

The sponsoring group is encouraged to extend the following benefits:

  • offer a 20% discount off the regular registration fee to other TC2 Partners on the condition that these Partners will reciprocate on events that they may sponsor;
  • build into the registration fee the cost of giving every participant a TC2 resource (TC2 will make these books available at a 35% discount plus shipping costs)
  • have TC2 resources available for purchase by institute participants (TC2 will make these books available at a 35% discount plus shipping costs). The sponsoring partner retains the profits from any sales of books.
  • allow TC2 to sponsor guests at the institute by paying a nominal registration rate of 75% off the regular cost.
